What is Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is a scholarship program offered by the South Korean government to international students to study at higher educational institutions in Korean universities for undergraduate, graduate, or research programs. which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly living expenses, airfare, Korean language training, and other allowances such as research support and printing fees.
The GKS program is governed by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education. The GKS scholarship is open to students from all countries, but eligibility requirements may vary depending on the applicant's country of origin and the specific program they wish to pursue. We will be discussing about the applicants from India who wish to apply for The Global Korea Scholarship program.

How to apply for Scholarship for GKS 2023 | Procedure to apply for GKS Scholarship
There are two methods for applying for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)2023
1. Embassy Track
2. University Track
Candidates can apply for GKS program through Korean embassy in India (This is called as Embassy Track) or directly to the designated universities in Korea. (This is called as University Track)
Important Note:
- Applicant must obtain the Degree by 28-Feb-23 to apply for GKS program.
- Applicant should submit the degree, Diploma or the graduation certificate, that should have date of graduation or degree issuance date.
- Students holding only provisional graduation certificate or provisional degree certificate is also not eligible for the applying GKS program 2023.
- Students can apply either by Embassy track or University Track. Multiple track of application is not allowded for the applying GKS program 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for GKS-UG 2023
- You must be an Indian citizen.
- The candidates must be under 25 (born after March 1, 1998).
- Applicants must be high school pass out or expected to pass by February 28, 2023. In that case, you need to submit the certificate of expected graduation at the time of applying.
- Applicants need a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) similar to or higher than one of the following from their high school.
- On a 100-point scale, one should score 80% or above, or one needs to rank within the top 20% of their class.
- CGPA: 2.64/4.0 or 2.80/4.3 or 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0.
- To study in Korea for the entire course duration, you must be in good physical and mental health.

Instructions for filling the form for GKS Scholarship
Applicants interested in graduate (Masters, Research, R&D, and Ph.d. programs) can apply online on the Ministry of Education portal online application atApply Online
Applicants need to submit 4 copies of the 2023 GKS application form duly filled and submit to Embassy of South Korea with the supporting documents by March 2023. Extact dates are not announced.

Things Decide GKS Scholarship selection

Applicant’s English name MUST match the name on their passport.
Letter of recommendation should be from 2 different recommenders, Who assess your academic performance thoroughly, The recommendation letters must be sealed in an envelope and be submitted to the Embassy or University that conducts the first round of selection.
